Produced from a blend of tradicional Douro Valley grape variaties, this wine was fermented in the time honoured method of treading the grapes by foot in granite lagares. Limited production.

This wine is made with region's noblest grape varieties and fermented off the skins.
Product was limited to 3000 bottles.

COLOR:
Clean, ruby red.
AROMA:
The red fruits are strongly marked, with the raspberry standing out, with a touch of cinnamon, a great aromatic intensity.
FLAVOR:
Good acidity, confirming the presence of the red fruit, persistent, great complexity and long. A genuine red with Douro “plate”!
GRAPE VARIETIES:
Touriga Nacional 40%, Touriga Franca 25%, Tinta Roriz 20% and Baroque 15%. (From vineyards aged 30).
VINIFICATION:
Vinified in stone mill, with manual treading, total destemming.
Bottled in May 2020.

Douro Demarcated Region
The CASA DOS VARAIS, estate is situated in the heart of the original Douro Demarcated Region (1761), and used to pay an annual tithe to the ancient Convent of Salzedas, proof of the long continuity of its viticultural traditions. For several generations the property has been in the hands of the same Family, who have constantly renovated the vineyard and improved winemaking, in order to combine the best of the ancient ways with modern technology.
